My name is Jan van Beek, I live in The Hague, and since March 2012 I have been working at the Erasmus Medical Center as an HIV nurse consultant.

During my HIV consultation hours, I see people living with HIV who come to the hospital twice a year for check-ups to ensure everything is going well physically, psychologically, and socially.

In a way, I am their point of contact for everything related to their illness.

In 2017, Eric van Gorp asked me if I could give a lesson on HIV during the kick-off day of Viruskenner.

Through this, I got ‘infected’ with the ‘Viruskenner’ virus, and since then I have had the opportunity to give several lessons and masterclasses during the kick-off days and serve as a jury member on the final day.

Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of organizing kick-off days several times in both Indonesia and Suriname.

I am looking forward to working as a coach for Viruskenner and guiding the students during the Viruskenner project.

Best of luck and, most importantly, have lots of fun.
